Mr. Mehrdad
Khajehnoori is a prominent member of the Iranian commercial community. He is a board
member of Shipping Association of Iran. At
the Iranian Chamber of Commerce,
Industries and Mines (ICCIM ) he holds various positions : board member of
Center for Professional Studies ; and member of the Board of Delegates .
He is also a member of Commission for Insurance of The Iranian National
Committee of International Chamber of Commerce.
In the past, Mr. Khajehnoori
has also held other senior positions in the Iranian insurance industry. Between
1984 and 1992, he was a member of the High Council of Insurance. During the
1994-1998 period, he served as a member of Select Committee of Institute of
Standard and Industrial Research of Iran.
Mr. Khajehnoori has
lectured in a number of seminars held in Iran and the UK and has published over
200 articles in Iranian professional magazines.
Mr. Khajehnoori was
born in 1948 in Tehran. He received a BA degree in History from Shiraz
University in 1971. In 1980, he attended the post-graduate management studies at
Industrial Management Institute in Tehran.
He gained his initial
experience with C.T. Bowring and Lloyds of London. This, plus ten years of
experience in the Iranian insurance and transportation industry led him to
establishing his own company, Iran Hami Insurance Brokers, in 1983. Iran Hami is
the first privately owned insurance brokerage in Iran after the Revolution in
Iran in 1979. Mr. Khajehnoori remained Iran Hami's Chairman until 2000. In
August 2000 he decided to focus most of his time on his new venture, Hami Noor.
In 1989, he also
founded and became the Chairman of Iran Bazdid, which was the Iranian
correspondent of Intertek (formerly Inchcape) Testing Services (ITS) . Iran
Bazdid grew to become one of the largest surveyors of Iranian export of crude
oil and petrochemical products.The company is now a joint venture with Caleb
Brett Division of ITS.
In 2004,he was elected a
board member of the newly stablished Arya Shipping Lines, the first Public Joint
Stock Company in this sector.
Mr. Khajehnoori is
married and has three daughters.
